Overview

The 2026 Simatai 100 Great Wall Trail offers four distance categories along the iconic Simatai Great Wall, featuring steep stone steps, mountain trails, and scenic views. The race emphasizes a blend of historical heritage and trail running challenge.

Location

The race starts and finishes at Gubei Water Town Sun Moon Island Plaza in Miyun District, Beijing. The courses traverse the Simatai Great Wall and surrounding mountainous terrain.

Getting There

  • Bus from Beijing: Regular shuttle service from Zhongqinglv Building (West Side) to Gubei Water Town Hotel at 09:00 daily, return at 16:00. Single trip price: 48 CNY.
  • Race Weekend Shuttle: Additional shuttles on May 29 at 17:00 and May 30 at 08:00 from Zhongqinglv Building to Gubei Water Town Hotel.

Mandatory Gear

Course Rules

  • All participants must carry mandatory gear and follow the marked course, wearing the number bib visibly.
  • Participants must pass through all checkpoints; failure to carry the timing chip will result in penalties.
  • If no course markers are seen within 200 meters, participants must return to the last confirmed marker.
  • Shortcuts are prohibited; taking shortcuts may result in time penalties or disqualification.
  • Littering is strictly prohibited; penalties include time additions or disqualification.
  • Participants must respect staff; disrespect may result in time penalties or disqualification.
  • Receiving unauthorized private support may result in time penalties or disqualification.
  • Bib swapping or using transportation is prohibited and will lead to disqualification.
  • Non-participants accompanying runners on the course is prohibited and may result in disqualification of the runner.

Aid Stations

  • Aid stations provide drinks and food, and can refill water containers (no bottled drinks provided).
  • Participants must ensure they carry sufficient water and food to safely reach the next station.
  • No disposable cups or utensils are provided at aid stations; participants must bring their own cup (at least 150ml).
  • Trash must be carried to designated bins at aid stations or the finish.

Withdrawal & DNF

  • If not injured, participants must go to a checkpoint to officially withdraw, have a corner of the number bib cut off, and the wristband removed.
  • Withdrawn participants can use their voided number bib to take transport to the finish and access food and rest areas.
  • Return transport for withdrawn participants is arranged based on checkpoint availability, health condition, and weather.
  • If a participant decides to withdraw mid-course, they must return to the previous or proceed to the next checkpoint for arrangement.

Weather & Cancellation

  • In case of severe weather (e.g., heavy rain/snow, strong storms), the start may be delayed by several hours; if conditions do not improve, the race may be canceled.
  • The organizer may terminate the race or adjust cutoff times for safety reasons due to weather.
  • If the race is canceled by the organizer, 100% of the entry fee will be refunded.
  • If canceled due to force majeure (e.g., natural disasters, government actions, epidemics), the entry fee will be fully refunded.

Conduct

  • Participants must follow Leave No Trace principles and cultural relic protection laws; do not damage the Great Wall or environment.
  • Do not use trekking poles on Great Wall structures (walls, steps, battlements); violations may result in warnings, time penalties, or disqualification, and legal liability for damage.
  • No littering, including food packaging, cups, energy gel packets, bottle caps, tissues; all trash must be carried to the finish or designated stations.
  • Do not carve, paint, climb, or step on non-passable areas; do not damage vegetation, disturb wildlife, or pick flowers.
  • Maintain course cleanliness, no loud noise, no fire, no water pollution.
  • Violations may result in time penalties, disqualification, or future race bans, and may be reported to authorities.
