Overview
The 2026 Shangri-La Trail Run offers four race categories set in the breathtaking landscapes of Yunnan's Shangri-La region. Runners will experience the ancient Dukezong Old Town, traverse the scenic Pudacuo National Park, and follow sections of the historic Tea Horse Road. The event is designed to challenge runners with high-altitude terrain while immersing them in the cultural and natural heritage of this UNESCO World Heritage site.
Location
The race is held in Shangri-La City, within the Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province. Key locations include:
- Start/Finish Points: Pudacuo National Park gate (for 75KM and 55KM) and Dukezong Ancient Town (for all categories).
- Notable Features: The courses pass through Bitahai Lake, Xilianpen Pass, Xiage Hot Spring, Tiansheng Bridge (Natural Bridge), and the Rongyue Resort, offering diverse scenery from alpine lakes to mountain passes.
Getting There
- By Air: The nearest airport is Diqing Shangri-La Airport (DIG), with flights available from Kunming and other major cities. From the airport, it's approximately a 30-minute drive to Shangri-La city.
- By Road: Shangri-La is accessible by bus or car from nearby cities like Lijiang (approx. 4 hours) or Kunming (approx. 8-10 hours). Public buses and private transfers are available.
- Local Transport: Taxis and local buses can be used to reach race venues from accommodation in Shangri-La city.
Mandatory Safety Equipment
Participants must carry all required mandatory safety gear corresponding to their race category at all times during the event.
The organizing committee will conduct mandatory gear checks at the start/finish area, aid stations, and along the course.
Participants must fully cooperate with inspections. Failure to comply or incomplete equipment may result in penalties or disqualification.
The organizing committee reserves the right to adjust or add mandatory equipment requirements prior to the race based on weather or safety conditions.
