Overview
The 11th Grand Wuyi Trail Race offers six categories ranging from 100km to 10km, all set within the UNESCO World Heritage site of Wuyishan. The course features ancient tea trails, dense forests, and iconic peaks, providing a unique blend of challenging terrain and cultural immersion. This edition celebrates the race's status as the world's only trail event running through a dual World Heritage site and national park.
Location
The race starts and finishes at the Yueying Wuyi Theater in the Sangu Resort Area of Wuyishan City. The course traverses the Wuyishan National Key Scenic Area, passing through protected wilderness areas, ancient tea plantations, and along the famous Nine Bend River.
Getting There
- By Air: Wuyishan Airport (WUS) is the nearest airport, approximately 30-40 minutes by taxi to the race venue
- By Train: Wuyishan North Railway Station is the closest high-speed rail station, approximately 20-30 minutes by taxi to the race venue
- Local Transportation: Taxis and local buses are available from both airport and train station to Sangu Resort Area
Rules & Regulations
Mandatory Gear
All Categories (100km/60km/35km/20km/10km)
- Fully charged mobile phone with navigation app (recommended: Two Step Road)
- Headlamp with spare batteries (minimum 100 lumens)
- Whistle
- Emergency blanket
- Water container (minimum 1.5L capacity)
- Food reserve (minimum 200kcal)
- Waterproof jacket with hood
- Long sleeve thermal top or fleece
- Long running trousers or tights
- Hat or buff
- Gloves
- Waterproof over-trousers
- Personal cup/bowl (no disposable utensils provided at aid stations)
Additional for 100km Group
- Second long sleeve thermal layer
- Additional headlamp or spare batteries
Course Rules
- Runners must follow marked course at all times
- No use of any transportation vehicles
- GPS navigation required (watch or phone with app)
- If lost, return to last visible course marker
- No pacers allowed
- No unofficial filming within 500m of aid stations
- Trekking poles prohibited on Tianyou Peak sections (Tea Cave-Zhongzheng Park and cliff plank road climb start-Zhongzheng Park)
- Top 10 finishers in each category subject to mandatory gear check at finish line
Aid Stations
- Aid stations provide water, electrolyte drinks, and basic food
- No disposable utensils provided - runners must bring personal cup/bowl
- Only 100km category has gear drop bag service at designated change point
- Crew access limited - check specific station rules
- Medical support available at all aid stations
Withdrawal & DNF
- Runners wishing to withdraw must proceed to nearest aid station
- Notify station staff and sign withdrawal declaration
- Bib number will be cut
- Wait for official transport back to finish area
- Self-withdrawal without notification is considered abandonment – the organizing committee assumes no responsibility for any consequences
- Medical and rescue personnel have the right to force a participant to withdraw from the race
Weather & Cancellation
- The organizing committee reserves the right to change the route, checkpoints, and aid stations at any time as necessary
- If the race cannot proceed as planned due to sudden adverse weather conditions or other force majeure events, the organizing committee has the right to temporarily suspend the race, modify cut-off times, postpone the start time, or even cancel the race, in consideration of the safety of all personnel
Conduct
- No littering - use provided eco-bags for all waste
- Do not damage vegetation or disturb wildlife
- Respect local culture and heritage sites
- Anti-doping matters shall be handled in accordance with the Anti-Doping Management Measures issued by the General Administration of Sport of China
- Violations include but are not limited to: using transportation, having someone else run in your place, damaging course markings, littering, refusing to cooperate with inspections, etc. Offenders will face time penalties, disqualification, or suspension from future races
