Getting There
- Fly ✈️: Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) is the main gateway, with extensive domestic and international connections. From the airport, take Metro Line 3 (North Extension) to Jiahewanggang, transfer to Line 2 southbound, then transfer again to Line 12 at Baiyun Culture Plaza for one stop to Guangzhou Gymnasium Station — about 1 hour total. A taxi or ride-hail takes roughly 40–50 minutes depending on traffic.
- High-speed rail 🚄: Guangzhou South Railway Station, one of China's busiest high-speed rail hubs, connects to the national network. Metro Line 2 runs directly from Guangzhou South to Baiyun Culture Plaza, where a one-stop transfer to Line 12 reaches Guangzhou Gymnasium Station — no need to change lines more than once.
- Metro 🚇: Metro Line 12 goes directly to Guangzhou Gymnasium Station (Exit A), right at the venue. Line 2's Baiyun Park Station is also a short walk away.
- Self-drive 🚗: The venue is about 15km from central Guangzhou (Yuexiu/Tianhe), roughly 30–40 minutes by car depending on traffic.
- Bus 🚌: Routes 76, 76A, 223, and 245 serve the Guangzhou Gymnasium East Gate stop on Baiyun Avenue South.
About the Race
The Guangzhou 100 Mountain Running Race sends runners into Maofeng Mountain Forest Park on the city's northern fringe, where Lotus Peak rises to 534.9m — higher than the famous White Cloud Mountain and the tallest point inside Guangzhou's urban area. The flagship 100km route climbs 5,456m through more than 20 peaks over 200m, looping out past checkpoints at Yongtai, Tianxin Chaoyang Sports Park, and Maofengshan Peak before returning to Guangzhou Gymnasium. Over 95% of the park is forested, giving the course a markedly different character from the city it starts and finishes in. Shorter 55km, 30km, and 10km categories cover progressively smaller sections of the same ridgelines, including dedicated night and youth editions of the 10km route.
Location
Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province and a Pearl River Delta megacity, is nicknamed the "Flower City" and anchors one of China's largest metropolitan areas. The race starts and finishes at Guangzhou Gymnasium in Baiyun District, named for the famous White Cloud Mountain (白云山) that borders the city center — though the race itself heads further out to the taller, more heavily forested Maofeng Mountain range on the district's northeastern edge, a popular weekend hiking area dating back to an ancient temple first built around 900 AD.
